भारतीयांच्या कर्तुत्वाची मान पादाक्रांत करते ओमान

बेळगाव लाईव्ह विशेष :एखादे ठिकाण, गाव अथवा शहर प्रसिद्धीच्या झोतात येते तेथील नागरिकांच्या कर्तृत्वामुळे. उद्योग व्यवसायासाठी परदेशात स्थायिक झालेले कर्नाटकची दुसरी राजधानी बेळगावचे अनिवासी भारतीय आज जगभरात ज्या ज्या देशात आहेत, त्या ठिकाणी त्यांनी आपले शहर, राज्य आणि देशाचे नांव उज्वल केले आहे. विविध क्षेत्रात अटकेपार झेंडा रोवणाऱ्या या बेळगावच्या मातीतील मंडळींच्या कार्याची दखल घेत त्यांना मानाचा मुजरा करून त्यांचे यश अधोरेखित करण्याद्वारे ते स्थानिक समाजासमोर मांडण्यासाठी बेळगाव लाईव्ह या बेळगावच्या लोकप्रिय स्थानिक दैनंदिन डिजिटल वृत्तवाहिनीने “समुद्रापार बेळगाव” ही साप्ताहिक मालिका सुरू केली आहे. जगभरातील शिक्षण, क्रीडा, साहित्य, संस्कृती, फॅशन, वैद्यकीय क्षेत्र, तंत्रज्ञान क्षेत्र वगैरे क्षेत्रात बेळगावच्या अनिवासी भारतीयांनी आपले कर्तुत्व आणि यशाद्वारे आपल्या शहराचे नांव उज्वल केले आहे. यापैकीच एक यशस्वी व्यक्तिमत्व म्हणजे आर्किटेक्ट योगेश मुचंडी….

योगेश मुचंडी हे एक अतिशय सामान्य, साध्या मराठा कुटुंबातील असून ते मूळचा दत्त गल्ली, वडगाव, बेळगाव येथील रहिवासी आहेत. सध्या ते ओमानच्या सल्तनतची राजधानी असलेल्या मस्कत येथे आर्किटेक्ट म्हणून काम करत आहेत. त्यांचे वडील कै. कृष्णा मुचंडी सीमाभागात परिचित नाव असून योगेशची आई श्रीमती सुमित्रा कृष्णा मुचंडी या दत्त गल्ली, वडगाव, बेळगाव येथे राहतात.

गोमटेश इंग्लिश मीडियम स्कूल, हिंदवाडी, बेळगाव येथून योगेश यांनी शालेय शिक्षण पूर्ण केले आणि 1991 मध्ये एसएसएलसी पूर्ण केले. त्यानंतर त्यांनी बेळगाव येथील मराठा मंडळ पॉलिटेक्निकमधून 1995 मध्ये आर्किटेक्चरचा डिप्लोमा पूर्ण केला. त्यानंतर त्यांनी काही आर्किटेक्ट्सच्या हाताखाली काम केले. 2002 मध्ये कामासाठी मस्कतला स्थलांतरित होण्यापूर्वी सुमारे सात वर्षे बेळगावात काम केले. त्यानंतर गेली बावीस वर्षे ते मस्कतमध्ये राहतात आणि त्याठिकाणी आपल्या कामाने वेगळी ओळख निर्माण केली आहे.

ओमानमध्ये, सुरुवातीला त्यांनी सहाय्यक आर्किटेक्ट म्हणून काम केले आणि नंतर स्वत:ची आर्किटेक्चरल कन्सल्टिंग फर्म सुरू केली. त्यापूर्वी त्यांनी एक दशकभर आर्किटेक्चरल फर्ममध्ये व्यवस्थापक म्हणून काम केले. अनेक निवासी व्हिला आणि व्यावसायिक आणि निवासी इमारती पूर्ण केल्या आहेत. सध्या 4-स्टार हॉटेल प्रकल्पावर काम करत आहेत. ते त्यांच्या डिझायनिंग कौशल्यात प्राविण्य मिळवले असून ओमान येथील मान्यवरांकडून त्यांचे कौतुक होत असते. योगेश म्हणतात की ओमानी स्थानिक लोक खूप दयाळू, मदत करणारे आहेत. त्यांना भारतीय संस्कृतीबद्दल जाणून घेण्यात खूप रस आहे.
ते म्हणतात, ओमानमध्ये दोन मंदिरे आहेत आणि सर्व हिंदू सण अतिशय भव्य पद्धतीने साजरे केले जातात, त्यात प्रत्येकजण सहभागी होतो. त्यांना भारतातील सर्व प्रमुख मेट्रो शहरांची माहिती आहे. पण आपल्या बेळगाव शहराबद्दल जाणून घेण्याची त्यांनाही उत्सुकता आहे. ओमानमध्ये ‘लुल्लू हायपर-मार्ट’ नावाचे शॉपिंग सेंटर आहे, जिथे बेळगावमध्ये उत्पादित केलेल्या साड्या एका खास विभागात विकल्या जातात. आणि त्यामुळे मला आपल्या बेळगाव शहराचा खूप अभिमान वाटतो. आत्तापर्यंत आमचे बहुतेक स्थानिक मित्र कुंदा आणि कर्दंट यांच्याशी परिचित आहेत, जे आम्ही जेव्हाही भारतात भेट देतो तेव्हा परत घेऊन जातो.

बेळगावात काही उत्तम शैक्षणिक संस्था आहेत. ओमानमध्ये तेथील लोकांच्या पाककृती आणि पदार्थ विशेष प्रसिद्ध आहेत. ओमानमधील काही प्रसिद्ध पदार्थ म्हणजे शावरमा, जे अरबी ब्रेड आणि मेयोनेझमध्ये चिरडलेले चिकन आहे. काबूली जी अरबी बिर्याणी आहे आणि ओमानी खजूर हलवा व कुनाफा, जो एक प्रसिद्ध मध्य-पूर्व मिष्टान्न डिश आहे.

योगेश यांना खेळातही रस आहे आणि त्याना नुकतेच क्रिकेटमधील प्रशिक्षणासाठी ‘ओ’ लेव्हल प्रमाणपत्र मिळाले आहे, आणि ओमानच्या आसपासच्या ठिकाणांना भेट देण्यावरही त्यांचा विशेष भर असतो.

त्यांना त्यांच्या पत्नी सौ. गीता गायकवाड मुचंडी यांचा समर्थपणे पाठिंबा आहे. त्या व्यवसायाने सिव्हिल इंजिनिअर असून पण आता गृहिणी आहेत. त्या मा. कॅप्टन महादेव गायकवाड (माजी एम एल आय) आणि स्वर्गीय श्रीमती . बेळगावच्या राणी चन्नम्मा नगर येथील शालिनी एम. गायकवाड यांच्या कन्या आहेत. योगेश आणि गीता या जोडप्याला एक मुलगा कुमार यश असून तो एव्हिएशन मॅनेजमेंट करत आहे. मुलगी कु. युक्ता अकरावीत शिकत आहे. योगेश त्यांच्या यशाचे श्रेय त्यांचे साडू भाऊ प्रताप कुकडोळकर (चंदा) यांच्याकडून मिळालेल्या पाठिंब्याला आणि मार्गदर्शनाला देतात. कुकडोळकर हे नानावाडी, बेळगाव येथील एक अभियंता आणि बांधकाम व्यावसायिक देखील आहेत.

तरुणांसाठी तुम्हाला काय सल्ला आहे, असे विचारल्यावर योगेश यांनी कष्ट आणि जिद्द ही यशाची गुरुकिल्ली आहे, असे एका ओळीत सांगितले. बेळगावचे नाव अधिक उंचीवर नेल्याबद्दल ’बेळगाव लाईव्ह’मध्ये आम्ही आर्किटेक्ट आणि अभियंता योगेश कृष्ण मुचंडी यांचे आभार मानतो, आमच्याशी बोलल्याबद्दल आणि त्यांचे विचार आणि प्रेरणादायी शब्द सांगितल्याबद्दल आणि त्यांच्या जिद्द आणि आत्म्याला सलाम, आणि त्यांना आणि मुचंडीला शुभेच्छा!

Non-resident Indian (NRI’s) citizens of Belgaum, the second capital of the state of Karnataka, in India, who have settled abroad due to their profession or business, have made the city proud by their achievements, and have kept the flag fluttering high, in whichever country or place they are working or residing around the world. Acknowledging & high-lighting the achievements of these sons & daughters of the soil, to the local population back home, is the weekly series “SAMUDRA-PAAR BELGAO” literally meaning in Marathi language, “Belgaum Across-Oceans”, by BELGAUM LIVE, a local Marathi daily digital news channel with a large subscriber base & readership. The ever-enterprising NRI community from Belgaum, have made the city proud by their achievements & success in various fields such as Education, Sports, Literature, Culture, Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Technology, Fashion, etc.. One amongst many such achievers & enterprising individuals from Belgaum is Ar. Yogesh Krishna Muchandi.

Yogesh Muchandi, hails from a very ordinary, simple Maratha family and is originally a resident of Datta Galli, Vadgaon, Belgaum, and currently residing and working as an Architect in Muscat, the capital city of the Sultanate Of Oman. His parents, father Late Shri. Krishna Muchandi & his mother Smt. Sumitra Krishna Muchandi continue to live at their residence in Datta Galli, Vadgaon, Belgaum. He completed his schooling from Gomtesh English Medium School, Hindwadi, Belgaum, and completed his SSLC in the year 1991. He then completed his Diploma in Architecture from the Maratha Mandal Polytechnic, in Belgaum in the year 1995. After that he worked under some Architects in Belgaum for about seven years, before migrating to Muscat for work in the year 2002. Since then till now, for the last twenty-two years, he has been living & working in Muscat.

In Oman, initially he worked as an Assistant Architect and later on worked as a Manager in an Architectural firm for a decade before starting his own Architectural Consulting Firm. He has completed many residential villas & commercial cum residential buildings and is currently working on a 4-star hotel project. He is very good in his designing skills and is much sought after by his Omani clients.
Yogesh says Omani local people are very kind, helpful & very much interested in knowing about Indian culture. He says “there are two temples there and all the Hindu festivals are celebrated in a very grand way, with everybody participating in it. They know about all the major metro cities of India. But they are also curious to know about our city Belgaum. There is a shopping centre in Oman called ‘Lullu Hyper-Mart’, where sarees manufactured in Belgaum are sold in a special section. And that makes me feel very proud about our city Belgaum. By now most of our local friends are familiar with Kunda and Kardant, which we carry back whenever we visit India.” He also remembers the wonderful climate and greenery of Belgaum and says that Belgaum has some of the best educational institutes.

Oman is also famous for some of its cuisines and dishes. Some of the famous dishes of Oman are Shawarma, which is shredded chicken rolled in Arabic bread and mayonnaise, Kabooli which is the Arabic Biryani and Omani Date Halwa and Kunafa, which is a famous middle-eastern dessert dish.
Yogesh is also interested in sports & has just got his ‘O’ level certificate recently for coaching in cricket, and is also interested in visiting places in and around Oman.
He is ably supported by his wife Mrs. Geeta Gaikwad Muchandi, who is a Civil Engineer by profession but now a home-maker, and who is the daughter of Hon. Capt. Mahadev Gaikwad (Ex. MLI) and late Smt. Shalini M. Gaikwad of Rani Chennama Nagar, Belgaum. The couple is blessed with a son Mr. Yash, who is pursuing his Aviation Management and a daughter Ms. Yukta, who is studying in the eleventh standard. Yogesh also attributes his success to the support and guidance all through-out from his Co-Brother Mr. Pratap Kukdolkar (Chanda) who is also an engineer & builder from Nanawadi, Belgaum.

When asked what advice he has for youngsters, Yogesh says it in one line “Hard-work and determination are the Keys to success.”
