ऑस्ट्रेलियातही वाहतोय भारतीय संस्कृतीचा झरा!

बेळगाव लाईव्ह : माणसं विस्थापन करत राहतात, हे वैश्विक सत्य आहे.एखादे झाड उखडून दुसऱ्या ठिकाणी लावलं तर जगते जरूर.. नव्या मातीशी नाते जोडून घेते पण त्याच्या मुळाशी जोडून आलेले मातीचे कण त्याचे चिरंतन सोबती असतात. झाडाचे काय आणि माणसांचे काय? दोघांची संस्कृती ही मातीशी जोडलेली असते! त्यांच्या मनाचा हळवा कोपरा आपला इतिहास विसरू शकत नाही. जगभर विखुरलेली माणसं घायाळ होऊन आपल्या मातृभूमी कडे , हरवलेल्या संस्कृतीकडे बघत राहतात. त्यांचे अंतर्मन गलबलून येतं. पदराचा शेव ओला होतो. मन वारंवार आपल्या माती कडे धावत राहते.

असं म्हणतात की माणसाचा देह मिसळावा तो माझ्या पांढरीत. जिथे त्याची नाळ पुरली गेली. ज्याप्रमाणे वारकरी पंढरपूरचा बुक्का कपाळाला लाऊन विठुमय होतो, त्याप्रमाणे ही माणसे धावत राहतात आपल्याच मातीचे गंधलेपन आपल्या कपाळी करण्यासाठी.

भाग्यनगर बेळगावच्या रहिवासी असलेल्या सोनाली मांजरेकर -पडवळ या मूळच्या बसवान गल्ली येथील असून कपिलेश्वरकर कुटुंबीय हे त्यांचे आजोळ आहे. मुंबईमध्ये वाणिज्य शाखेचे शिक्षण पूर्ण करून पुढे 1998 ते 2000 या कालावधीत त्यांनी आरपीडी कॉर्नर येथे हॉलमार्क गिफ्ट फ्रॅंचाईजी आणि होग कापडाचे बुटीक सुरू करून उत्तमरीत्या चालविले. वडील सुबोध मांजरेकर हे मुंबईत लुपिन फार्मा या नामांकित कंपनीमध्ये उपाध्यक्ष म्हणून कार्यरत असल्यामुळे सोनाली यांचे शालेय आणि महाविद्यालयीन शिक्षण मुंबईमध्येच झाले. कालांतराने लग्न झाल्यानंतर 2004 साली त्या ऑस्ट्रेलियात स्थायिक झाल्या.

कांहीतरी वेगळे करण्याची इच्छा सतत मनामध्ये असल्यामुळे त्यांनी तेथे सामाजिक कार्यात भाग घेतला आणि पुढे अनेक संस्थांबरोबर कार्य करत असताना एक चांगली संधी चालून आली आणि सोनाली मांजरेकर -पडवळ यांना स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थेमध्ये सरकारी काम करण्याची संधी उपलब्ध झाली. सध्या त्या ‘वायंधम सिटी कौन्सिल’ या सरकारी संस्थेच्या समुदाय नियोजन आणि विकास खात्यात ‘एरिया लीडर’ म्हणून कार्य करत आहेत.

सरकारी छोट्या -मोठ्या अडचणी सोडवण्यामध्ये आणि लोकांना सोयी सुविधा उपलब्ध करून देण्यामध्ये सोनाली नेहमीच अग्रेसर असतात. तसेच खास करून त्या स्थानिक वयोवृद्ध ज्येष्ठ नागरिकांना मोबाईल, लॅपटॉप, नेट बँकिंग, शॉपिंग वगैरे आधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाचा वापर करण्यास शिकवत असतात. सदर समाज कार्याबद्दल तेथील सरकारने सोनाली यांचा गौरवही केला आहे. ज्या अनिवासी लोकांना जे मूळचे ऑस्ट्रेलियन नाहीत त्यांना मदत करणे. ज्यांना इंग्लिश भाषा येत नसेल किंवा संवाद साधताना अडचण येत असेल तर त्यांना सहाय्य करून सरकारी योजनांचा लाभ मिळवून देण्याचे काम देखील सोनाली करत असतात.

एरिया लीडर या नात्याने लोकांच्या गरजा ओळखून त्याचा त्या शहरात साठा उपलब्ध करून ठेवणे (मालमत्ता निर्माण समुदाय विकास) हे त्यांचे महत्त्वाचे काम आहे. मागील कोरोना प्रादुर्भाव काळातही सोनाली मांजरेकर -पडवळ यांनी उल्लेखनीय कार्य केले आहे. सामाजिक सांस्कृतिक उपक्रम आणि भारतीय संस्कृती कार्यक्रम राबविण्यामध्ये त्या अग्रेसर असतात.

बेळगाव हे सोनाली यांचे माहेर असल्याने लहानपणीच्या आठवणींमध्ये त्या रमलेल्या असतात आणि आपला मुलगा आर्यन याला दरवर्षी सुट्टीमध्ये बेळगावला एक -दोन महिन्यांसाठी घेऊन येत असतात. आपण अनुभवलेल्या सुंदर बेळगावची ओळख आपल्या मुलाला करून देण्यासाठी आणि त्याच्यावर आपल्या मातीतील संस्कार करणे हा आर्यनला बेळगावला घेऊन येण्यामागचा त्यांचा मूळ उद्देश असतो.

अनेक वर्षे परदेशात राहून देखील सोनाली मांजरेकर -पडवळ यांनी आपली भारतीय संस्कृती जपली आहे आणि आपल्या पुढच्या पिढीवर देखील त्या तसेच संस्कार करत आहेत. बेळगावमध्ये सध्या भाग्यनगर येथे त्यांची आई नयना आणि भाऊ अमित मांजरेकर तसेच बसवान गल्ली येथे आजोळचे कपिलेश्वरकर (मामा आणि कुटुंबीय) हे राहतात.

ऑस्ट्रेलिया सारख्या प्रगत देशालाही आपल्या मनावर झालेल्या भारतीय सुसंस्काराची ओळख करून देणाऱ्या बेळगावच्या सुकन्येची जीवनगाथा मोहनी घालते कारण त्यात असतो वाहणाऱ्या भारतीय संस्कृतीचा जिवंत झरा..तिथं असतो त्याग, समर्पणवृत्ती, बंधुभाव आणि माणुसकीचा ओलावा…

‘Up-hold your Cultural values’ – Sonali Manjrekar-Padwal.

BELGAUM LIVE: A place or town or city comes into limelight on the basis of the achievements of its citizens. Non-resident Indian (NRI’s) citizens of Belgaum, the second capital of the state of Karnataka, in India, who have settled abroad due to their profession or business, have made the city proud by their achievements, and have kept the flag fluttering high, in which ever country or place they are working or residing around the world. Acknowledging & high-lighting the achievements of these sons & daughters of the soil, to the local population back home, is the weekly series “SAMUDRA-PAAR BELGAO” literally meaning in Marathi language, “Belgaum Across-Oceans”, by BELGAUM LIVE, a local Marathi daily digital news channel with a large subscriber base & readership across various social media platforms. The ever-enterprising NRI community from Belgaum, have made the city proud by their achievements & success in various fields such as Education, Sports, Literature, Culture, Medicine, Technology, Fashion, etc., and carrying on the legacy of the great Indian Culture of providing service to mankind, is one such daughter of the soil Ms. Sonali Manjrekar-Padwal, and ‘Belgaum Live’ is proud to present her success story.

Ms. Sonali Manjrekar-Padwal is a resident of Bhagyanagar, Belgaum, and orignally a native of Baswan Galli, Belgaum and presently settled in Australia. Her maternal grand-parents are the Kapileshwarkar family from Belgaum. Since her father Mr. Subodh Manjrekar was working as a Vice President in a renowned company Lupin Pharma in Mumbai, Sonali did her schooling and college education in Mumbai. After completing her commerce degree in Mumbai, she started the ‘Hallmark’ Gift Franchise and ‘Vogue’ Textile Boutique at Rani Parvati Devi Corner or RPD corner as popularly known, in the suburb of Tilakwadi, Belgaum from 1998 to 2000 and ran it successfully. After she got married, she migrated & settled in Australia in 2004.
After settling in Australia, she was obsessed with the idea of doing something different. She started participating in social work and social projects and further while working with several social organizations, she got an opportunity to work in the local government body. Presently she is working as an ‘Area Leader’ in the Community Planning and Development Department of ‘Wyndham City Council’, a Local Government body.

Sonali is always at the forefront, in helping & solving peoples’ problems, big or small, at the government level and making it convenient for people to utilise government facilities and services. Also, she is especially involved in teaching the local elders, and senior citizens to use modern technology like mobile, laptop, net banking, shopping etc.

The local government has also recognized her contribution & honoured Sonali for her social work. She also supports and helps both Australian residents and non residents by assisting those who do not speak English or have difficulty in communicating, and helping them in availing facilities & services as per government schemes. As an area leader, Sonali’s important job is to identify the needs of the people and stock accordingly to meet their needs in that city (Work on ABCD – Asset Building Community Development). Sonali Manjrekar-Padwal has done remarkable work even during the previous corona outbreak. She has always taken initiative and actively participated in implementing socio-cultural activities and conducting Indian cultural programs.

Since Sonali hails from Belgaum, she has very fond memories of her childhood in Belgaum, and makes it a point to bring her son Aaryan to Belgaum, for a month or two, every year during vacation. Her main aim in bringing Aaryan to Belgaum is to introduce her son to the beautiful place of Belgaum, that she has experienced and to imbibe in him the values & culture as imbibed in any of the sons or daughters of the soil. In-spite of living abroad for so many years, Sonali Manjrekar- Padwal has maintained and conserved her Indian culture and is imparting and imbibing the same cultural values on to the next generation. Presently her mother Nayana and brother Amit Manjrekar live in Bhagyanagar, Belgaum and her maternal uncle, the Kapileshwarkar family live in Baswan Galli, Belgaum.
