बेळगावबद्दल आपला अभिमान आभाळाएवढा : प्रज्ञा पुणेकर

बेळगाव लाईव्ह : एखाद्या गावाचं नाव मोठं होतं ते त्या गावातल्या माणसांच्या कर्तृत्वावर! बेळगावातील अशा कर्तृत्ववान व्यक्तींनी देश विदेशात आपल्या बेळगावचा झेंडा रोवला. त्यांच्या कार्याची ‘बेळगाव लाईव्ह’ने घेतलेली दखल म्हणजेच ‘समुद्रापार बेळगाव’! बेळगावच्या जनतेने सातासमुद्रापार आपल्या प्रगतीचे झेंडे रोवले आहेत. विविध क्षेत्रात उत्तम कामगिरी करून बेळगाववासीयांनी बेळगावच्या शिरपेचात मानाचा तुरा रोवला आहे. शैक्षणिक, क्रीडा, साहित्य, संस्कृती, वैद्यकीय, तंत्रज्ञान, फॅशन यासह अनेक क्षेत्रात कामगिरी बजावून आपल्यासह बेळगावचे नावही उंचावले आहे. अशा हजारो जणांपैकी एक असलेल्या म्हणजेच  प्रज्ञा पुणेकर!

मूळच्या बेळगावच्या. पूर्वाश्रमीच्या प्रज्ञा करगुप्पीकर आणि सध्याच्या प्रज्ञा पुणेकर यांनी एमबीए पर्यंतचे शिक्षण पूर्ण केले आहे. आयएमईआर महाविद्यालयातून एमबीए केलेल्या प्रज्ञा पुणेकर यांनी शालेय आणि महाविद्यालयीन शिक्षण बेळगाव शहरातून पूर्ण केले आहे. काकती, बेळगाव येथील वडील सुनील करगुप्पीकर आणि आई मीरा करगुप्पीकर यांच्यासह पती अमोल पुणेकर यांच्या सहकार्यामुळे आपण आज यशाच्या शिखरावर असल्याचे त्या सांगतात.

त्या वसंतराव करगुप्पीकर यांच्या नात होत. त्यांचे राणी चन्नमानगर स्थित सासरे  अरुण पुणेकर आणि सुरेखा पुणेकर यांनाही त्या खूप मानतात , जे त्यांना स्वतःच्या मुलीसारखे वागवतात. सध्या इंग्लंड -लंडन येथे ‘पीपल एलिमेंट’ च्या सह-संस्थापिका म्हणून त्या कार्यरत आहेत. याचप्रमाणे ‘स्टोरी -अनहर्ड’ या संस्थेच्या त्या संस्थापिका आहेत. व्यक्ती, संघ आणि संस्थांना जोपासणे, विकसित करणे, संलग्न करणे आणि सक्षम करणे या हेतूने सदर संस्था त्या चालवत आहेत.

गेल्या १४ वर्षांहून अधिक काळ त्या याठिकाणी कार्यरत असून प्रतिष्ठित कॉर्पोरेट संस्थांसोबत काम करण्याचा विशेषाधिकार त्यांना मिळाला आहे. प्रज्ञा पुणेकर या महिला सक्षमीकरणाविषयी अत्यंत उत्कट भाव जपतात. याच अनुषंगाने त्या कथा-स्टोरीज अनहर्ड या एनजीओ साठी समर्पितपणे काम करतात.

त्यांनी २०१७ सालचे मिसेस इंडिया यूकेचे विजेतेपद पटकाविले आहे. यासह यंग अचिव्हर, झी टीव्ही लंडन येथे मुलाखत, जीवनशैली मासिक, लाइका रेडिओ लंडन, प्रेरणादायी जीवन पुस्तक, जागतिक दर्जाचे सौंदर्य ‘क्वीन’ मासिक या माध्यमातून विशेष प्रसिद्धी मिळविली आहे. लंडनमधील “नारी तू नारायणी” नावाच्या आघाडीच्या टीव्ही कार्यक्रमाद्वारे, “सिपिंग थॉट्स” शो यासह “द गाईडिंग व्हॉइस” पॉडकास्टने प्रज्ञा पुणेकर यांच्या कार्याबद्दल मुलाखत घेतली आहे.

ब्लॉग लिहिणे, योगाभ्यास करणे, ध्यान करणे, लहान मुलांना श्लोक शिकवणे आणि कधीकधी फॅशनच्या जगाचा शोध घेणे असे छंद प्रज्ञा पुणेकर यांचे आहेत. मातृभूमी सोडून जगाच्या प्रवासावर निघालेल्या प्रज्ञा पुणेकर यांनी ‘बेळगाव लाईव्ह’ ने घेतलेल्या मुलाखतीदरम्यान बेळगावच्या शैक्षणिक संस्था आणि व्यवस्था सर्वोत्कृष्ट असल्याचे सांगितले. शिवाय आपले शिक्षण बेळगावमध्ये झाले याचा आपल्याला अभिमान असल्याचेही त्यांनी सांगितले.

त्या पुढे म्हणतात, बेळगावला माझे मूळ शहर म्हणून संबोधण्यात मला अभिमान वाटतो, बेळगावचे विशेष स्थान माझ्या हृदयात आहे. शहराच्या प्रत्येक कानाकोपऱ्यात माझ्या बालपणीच्या खास आठवणी आहेत. बेळगावचा शांत परिसर, हिरवागार निसर्ग, तोंडात रेंगाळणाऱ्या चवीची मेजवानी देणारी भोजनालये, मनमिळाऊ लोक, समृद्ध इतिहास आणि वैविध्यपूर्ण संस्कृती, भाषा, संस्कृती यांचे एकत्रीकरण या गोष्टींचा ठेवा आपल्या मनात सदोदित ताजातवाना असल्याचेही त्या सांगतात. शिवाय भविष्यात मला माझ्या शहराने दिलेल्या गोष्टींची परतफेड कोणत्या ना कोणत्या रूपाने करायची आहे आणि तेथील लोकांची सेवाही करायची आहे, असे त्या सांगतात. बेळगावच्या आठवणींचा ठेवा जपत, सातासमुद्रापार बेळगावचे नाव उंचावणाऱ्या सौ. प्रज्ञा पुणेकर यांचे आमच्याशी बोलल्या बद्दल आणि विचार व्यक्त केल्या बद्दल आम्ही त्यांचे आभारी आहोत आणि पुढील वाटचालीसाठी ‘बेळगाव लाईव्ह’च्या खूप खूप शुभेच्छा! – टीम बेळगाव लाईव्ह.

Native of Belgaum, formerly Pradnya Karguppikar before marriage, & now Pradnya Punekar, she attributes her success to the support & encouragement received from her father Mr. Sunil Karguppikar of Kakti, Belgaum, mother Mrs. Meera Karguppikar & her husband Mr. Amol Punekar. She is the grand-daughter of Mr. Vasantrao Karguppikar. She also holds her in-laws Mr. Arun Punekar & Mrs. Surekha Punekar of RC Nagar in very high esteem, who treat her like a daughter of their own.

Pradnya did her schooling & college from Belgaum & graduated with a degree in MBA from IMER College Belgaum. After travelling around the world she proudly says “Belgaum’s educational institutions & system is one of the best, & I feel grateful & blessed to have been educated & grown-up in amazing Belgaum”.
Presently based in London, England, Pradnya is a mother of two boys, and is an HR professional. She is the founder of a NGO “KATHA – Stories Unheard” which dedicatedly works for women empowerment and is also the co-founder of “PEOPLE ELEMENT”, an entity engaged in nurturing, developing & empowering individuals, teams & organisations to thrive & build capabilities to foster meaningful growth & sustainable success.

She also has an interest in the field of fashion & beauty. The proudest moment for Belgaum was when she was crowned “Mrs. India UK – 2017”, a very prestigious title. She has been bestowed with the ‘Young Achiever Award’ for the biography published in “Garje Marathi Global Book”. She has been interviewed on various platforms like Zee TV London, on a leading TV programme named ‘Nari Tu Narayani’, then on the “Sipping Thoughts” show & “The Guiding Voice” podcast. She has also been featured in The Life-Style Magazine, on Lyca Radio London, in the book ‘Inspiring Lives’, and the prestigious world class magazine ‘Beauty Queen’.
Her hobbies include Yoga, Meditation, teaching small children to recite verses (Shlok) from the scriptures, blogging and once in a while peek into the fashion-world.

She also states, in her words “As a native, I cherished the serene surroundings of Belgaum, the lush green landscapes, mouth-watering eateries, warm hearted people, rich history and diverse culture are something which I love the most and also miss the most. Growing up in Belgaum, I experienced the amalgamation of languages, cultures which gave the city a unique identity. In near future I wish to give back to my city in some form and serve my people there”.
